UX/UI Visual Design
Background
While at Isobar, I helped lead the design team on the global redesign and development of the JBL and Harman Kardon eComm websites. Though this was done some time ago, I chose to include it as many ideas and solutions are still employed on the site today. It also sets the standard for UX/UI patterns and micro-interactions that you see in not only the direct competitor space but other verticals as well.
Challenge
The main challenge was constructing an architecture, journey, UX/UI, and branded visual layer that would not only accelerate JBL's specific product but also unite the sister brands of Harmon, AKG, and Infinity. At the time, we came up with the first brand selector (much like you would later see on connected brands) and a universal shopping cart that would permit users to stay on one site but shop for other related brands.
Solution
Our strategy was truly a "measure twice, cut once" approach in that everything was sketched and reviewed at a high level of collaboration, incorporating input from JBL in Germany.
